Claire Kourie

Claire is the founder of the practice, which began in 2006.

She qualified with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in the year 2000, at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). She was also awarded the Top Student in Rehabilitation, in her final year.

Claire has gained valuable experience in her field, both locally and internationally. She has covered many different areas of physiotherapy including: Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy; Intensive Care (ICU); Paediatrics; Orthopaedics; Post-Surgical Physiotherapy; Respiratory Physiotherapy; treatment of patients with Sport’s Injuries; and Neurophysiotherapy. The fact that she has skill in treating such diverse conditions, allows her to effectively diagnose and treat each patient with a holistic approach.

Claire’s main interest lies in Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy. In 2007, she completed a renowned, post-graduate, one-year course in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT). She qualified with Distinction. She also supervised physiotherapists doing this course thereafter. Claire has also completed level 1-4 of courses from the Mckenzie Institute, an Australian approach to treatment. This is a very effective, well researched and well-respected form of therapy, which focuses on teaching patients how to self-treat both peripheral and spinal conditions. Of course, she still acknowledges the effectiveness and benefit of manual therapy, and this forms an important part of most of her treatments.

She has continued her professional development throughout her career and has done various other courses which include: Dry Needling; Kinetic Control; The Ultimate Upper Quarter; The Ultimate Lower Quarter, and various other peripheral joint and spinal courses.

Claire is dedicated to and is passionate about her profession. She believes in a system of inter-referral between health professionals, such as Occupational Therapists, Biokineticists and /or Podiatrists, when appropriate. This allows for a timeous and optimal recovery.
